Building of the XVII century from the Volyntsevo settlement in the middle Sejm riverside

The article is devoted to the results of archaeological excavations Volyntsevo hillfort in 1981. beginning study this monument began at 20th century by local landowner A. Shechkov. Part collection was transferred Kursk Museum. In 1948, research on site carried out under leadership V. Dovzhenko. northwestern part rampart, a rampart cut. 1981, O. Sukhobokov continued hillfort. Their goal clarify design features floor shaft. For this, two were laid – first center, second northeastern rampart. As result research, rock outgrowth discovered, consisting untreated cobblestones quartzite. It located near shaft, but it not structurally connected with it. stratigraphy excavation II indicates that stone pavement later than remains rampart’s wooden structure. This construction an independent and, most likely, dates back period after middle 13th century. Near pavement, depth 1.2 1.5 m, ground burials found, made according Christian burial rite. object may be foundation significant structure perished large fire. evidenced amount ash, ash and burnt clay. known from documents 17th century, there noble estate hillfort, which belonged Andrei Trifonov city Putivl. main type planning small-manor manor’s yard outbuildings peasant houses. A church nearby hill. contain information St. Nicholas Wonderworker territory village, built before 1639 burned down 1663. Thus, can assumed early during fire no longer recovered.
